About Us
Feeling Blue Suicide Prevention Council is a community-based organization dedicated to preventing suicide, reducing the stigma associated with suicide, and supporting those people affected by depression or by the loss of a loved one to suicide. We do this through education and support.
Feeling Blue Suicide Prevention Council originally began as an outreach program of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Radnor, PA. With the encouragement of their rector, the Reverend Douglas G. Scott, members of the parish formed the committee to help prevent suicide, promote suicide prevention awareness, and help remove the stigma associated with suicide and several of them continue to volunteer their time with Feeling Blue. Some members have struggled with depression and suicide themselves, and know the anguish that this problem brings to individuals and families. The congregation of St. Martin's continues to support Feeling Blue and pray for those at risk every day and hope that you will be able to make a difference in the life of someone in trouble.
Please note that we are not a hotline or crisis center. Feeling Blue Suicide Prevention Council does not provide counseling or advice over the phone or by e-mails. If you are in crisis, feeling suicidal, or concern about someone who is suffering from depression or suicidal and you still have questions or need to talk to someone, contact The National Suicide Prevention Lifefline at 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255) or the National Hopeline Network at 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433). If you feel you or someone you care about is in danger of suicide right now, you should treat this like any other medical emergency. You can go to the emergency room of your local hospital and request a psychiatric evaluation and admission. Or you can call 911 or the emergency number for your local police. Someone who is suicidal needs immediate help from a medical doctor.
